Earthquake Update

Since an earthquake rocked Haiti over two weeks ago, we are blessed to have received an amazing outpouring of connections, support, and resources. Hands and Feet Project Executive Director Andrea McGinniss provided us with an update on how Hands and Feet Project is fairing, and all that our team in Haiti is doing to help others who were affected more severely, saying:

“Hands and Feet Project has set up a way for you to help with Haiti’s rescue and relief efforts through our disaster relief donation page. We will either use those resources directly to purchase supplies on the ground or fund other organizations that we trust and see are doing hands-on service to the impacted areas (these organizations include Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF), Missionary Flights International (MFI), and Convoy of Hope). We have already used helicopters, planes, trucks, and motos to distribute thousands of pounds of food and supplies to Les Cayes, Jeremie, and many rural communities in the outlying areas of those cities. One of those is the town of Camp Perrin. Many of our Grand Goave family is connected to that area and we are passionate about investing in their immediate relief.”

We are working directly with several organizations as everyone continues to band together to mend affected communities. Overture International is providing support in Les Cayes with food, tarps, medical supplies, personal care items, and needed funds. Haiti Bible Mission (HBM) is also providing support in Jeremie with food, water, and medical supplies, specifically gauze, masks, and gloves. Mission of Hope International (MHI) is giving aid through the provisions of food, transportation, and rebuilding efforts/supplies in Camp Perrin. We will be partnering with Mission of Hope International in the Camp Perrin community to rebuild homes. It is such a blessing to work with these amazing organizations, and even in this unfortunate event, we are reminded of the blessing of joining together to support one another!

As food, water, tarps, and other much-needed supplies are being delivered, we continue to revel at the resiliency of our team and our community. Members of Hands and Feet Project have assisted doctors and worked as pharmacy techs, while several of our young adults, Gerlande, Lyvie, and Guerdine, worked as translators. They did an amazing job and greatly improved the flow of information between the language barrier!

We are delivering supplies to hurting villages and communities every day. We are working together to support our Haitian family in a time of utmost need. We are asking that you continue to pray for our Haitian community, friends, and family as we travel the road to recovery and work to rebuild during this time.
