VBS: Christmas In August

Our Hands & Feet Project family completed another year of Vacation Bible School (VBS), and that’s a reason to celebrate! We love opening the Bible and helping children learn more about Jesus. We chose “Christmas in August” as this year’s theme and talked about everything from the Nativity Story to how to “Follow the Light and Be the Light.”

On the first day of VBS, our children visited the “Secret Pal Station.” Here, we gave them the name of another child on campus who would be their “secret pal” for the week. Throughout the week, the children made small gifts for each other and prayed over them. At the end of the week, each child shared their pal’s name and presented them with a crown.

We also participated in fun activities surrounding Christmas traditions. We decorated stockings, had “snowball” fights with fake snowballs, and made snowflakes. We also designed ornaments with every child’s picture to add to the Christmas tree.

VBS helps children learn more about the Word of God and brings the community together. Our time focuses on the hope and grace we have in Christ. It also contributes to building community on campus because it is an “all-hands-on-deck” type of week, and it truly takes a village to pull it all off. Christmas in August was full of so much laughter, dancing, singing, and running around — all the chaos in all the best ways!
