The Gift of Gospel Partners: Discovery Church

How far back in time do we travel when we talk about friendships, relationships, and ministry? I believe the first connection between Discovery Church and Hands & Feet Project happened in 2010. Know Hope Collective, a group of acoustic, worship artists, including Mark Stuart and Will McGinniss, traveled to perform at Discovery Church for a special event. Shortly after, Hands & Feet Project’s relationship with the church began in 2015 with their first visit to Haiti.

Pastor Smith Sharpe led the mission trip, and it was filled with a lot of hard work, serious kid play, and intimate worship experiences on the Big House porch. Anyone who has been to Jacmel can appreciate these memories. Those life-changing experiences secured not only long-time friendships, but ministry partners, prayer warriors, and great impact-makers in Haiti.

For us at Hands & Feet Project, our relationship with Discovery Church is ideal because it is mutual. Is Discovery Church filled with generous givers of time, talent, and treasure? Absolutely. The body is also generous in prayers, encouragement, and other forms of support. Our team visits their church, and their team visits Hands & Feet Project.

Over the years, the church has purchased school supplies and Christmas gifts. They have also built houses and given their treasure generously. Over 100 members of Discovery sponsored children outside of the church’s monthly giving. We are in prayer over their church, leadership, and church community. We are confident they are a light to their community as they are a light to us.

Matthew 5:14-16 The Message

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

It is a joy to build and maintain relationships with partners in the gospel. We are on mission together for God’s glory, and we would love for you to join us. If you would like Hands & Feet Project to visit your church family, please email connect@handsandfeetproject.org.
