Christmas in Haiti

Thank you for the generous gifts of love and of lifelong memories for our community! Your Amazon Wish List gifts arrived and the celebrations for Christmas 2021 were done beautifully. This year looked different than others, but we are incredibly grateful for you, our staff, and those in our care.

Typically, a team comes the week before Christmas. This team helps with wrapping presents and getting the campus ready. Even though we weren’t able to host a Christmas trip this year, our incredible staff in Haiti facilitated everything from start to finish!  Natacha, our Children’s Village Administrator in Jacmel, handled all the wrapping and organization of the gifts in Jacmel. It’s a HUGE job, but she executed it well!  We also want to give a big shout-out to Rachelle and Lapaix, who are a part of our administrative team in Grand Goave. They spent many hours leading up to Christmas going through all the Christmas gifts that came in from the Amazon Wish List and coordinated it so that each item made it to the intended recipient. Then on top of that, they wrapped all of Grand Goave’s presents.

One tradition we have is our annual Christmas Eve dinner.  We look forward to this celebration every year, to get to spend time together as a Hands & Feet Project family at each of our Children’s Villages. Our caregivers provided the delicious food, and the older children and young adults decorated the activity centers, where the parties are held. They also coordinated and facilitated the dinner itself including serving, cleaning up, and more!

Every year, the kids put on a “show” and this year was no different. The show included dancing, singing, games with the staff, and playing songs on recorders. It’s always such a fun time! This year they did an amazing job.  Because our missionaries were not there this year, a computer was set up in the activity center. This way the missionaries could Zoom in, watch the event, and say “Merry Christmas” to our kids and staff.

At the end of the night, presents were handed out to each caregiver so they could give them out at their houses on Christmas morning. Then everyone was off to wait for the anticipation of Christmas morning.

Thank you for supporting our staff, mission, ministry, and all we care for by making our Christmas of 2021 special!
