Village Values: Celebrating Our Core Values
In the midst of a busy life, there’s a day that stands out each summer for us at Hands & Feet Project family—a day of joy, unity, and celebration known as Village Values Day. This annual tradition embodies our organization’s four foundational core values: Love, Honesty, Obedience, and Responsibility. Rooted in scripture, these values not only guide our work but also knit together our community, reminding us of who we are and what we stand for. Village Values Day offers a rare chance to come together, put aside daily stresses, and simply celebrate one another.
Celebrating Village Values Together
Village Values Day is built around our four core values—Love, Honesty, Obedience, and Responsibility—which shape everything we do. This special day brings those values to life as we honor individuals who embody them.
The day kicked off with an awards ceremony, where both children and adults were honored for exemplifying each value. It was heartwarming to see the excitement and pride on everyone’s faces as they cheered for the winners. Roodly, thrilled to win the Honesty award after trying last year, celebrated like an Olympian. Germina, whose caring spirit embodies Love, was honored in a way that felt just right, and Jessica, who had been praying for growth in Obedience, accepted her award through tears of joy. Cadet and Mackie’s infectious smiles lit up the stage, making the moment even more memorable for everyone.
Unstructured Fun and Community Bonding
After the ceremony, everyone gathered for a much-anticipated soccer game, filling the air with music and laughter. The boys’ team won after a suspenseful penalty shootout, and their victory was celebrated with thunderous cheers. There was even a trophy presentation—repurposed from an old debate competition—that added an amusing twist, underscoring the joyful, lighthearted spirit of the day.
In the afternoon, we played a range of games, including the crowd-favorite Love station. Participants spun a wheel that could result in receiving candy, running a lap, or even getting an egg cracked on their head! The unpredictability of it all brought endless laughter, with everyone, even the youngest, joining in on the fun.
An Evening of Performances and Connection
The celebration continued into the night with performances and a dance party. Several children showcased their talents with original dance routines, cheered on by an audience filled with genuine admiration. Watching them encourage each other reminded us all of the supportive, close-knit community we’ve built together. DJ Walky Mix brought the night to life with music, and as everyone danced under the glow of fireworks, it was clear that Village Values Day had, once again, brought our community closer.
Reflecting on Our Values
Through the excitement, each part of the day echoed our core values. Wildaline spoke proudly about her responsibilities, describing the work she does with such dedication. Stéphane expressed the deep love he feels for his friends, kissing his medal to show his joy. Roodly shared his thoughts on honesty, emphasizing the importance of truth in his life.
Village Values Day isn’t just an event—it’s a reminder of the strength of our community and the values that bond us together. This annual tradition uplifts everyone, celebrating the character and heart that make’s Hands & Feet Project a unique family. Together, we find new inspiration to carry these values forward, each person contributing to the beautiful mosaic of our mission.
