Heavy But Holy: The Weight of Transformation

April is a beautiful month, filled with blooming flowers and the promise of new beginnings. Spring not only awakens the earth but also stirs our spirits. For the global church, this season draws us to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, a powerful reminder of redemption, transformation, and new life. Yet, this renewal comes with a cost: the weight of the world’s brokenness, borne by one Savior, fully human, fully divine.
We, too, sometimes feel the world’s weight on our shoulders—especially when faced with the crisis of global poverty. It’s a burden we all share as members of the human family. In Genesis, God instructs Noah: “I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being… for in the image of God has God made mankind.” (Genesis 6:5-6) When we remember this responsibility, we cannot ignore the vulnerability of children in Haiti. Their needs call out to us. How can we turn away?
We are called to cherish every life and honor our shared responsibility. For those of us living in abundance, this call feels especially profound—a reminder that our blessings are meant to be shared.
Right now, Haiti faces a severe nutrition crisis. The country must import most of its food, and nearly 80% of its main staple, rice, comes from abroad. Local farmers supply only 40% of what’s needed, leaving Haiti’s children reliant on the compassion and action of a global family. Picture nearly 3.6 million people uncertain of their next meal, a burden no child should face. Yet, together, we have the power to bring hope.
This is where you, and Hands & Feet Project, make a powerful difference. Your support, joined with our partners, brings nourishment not only to children, but to entire families. But our mission doesn’t stop there: we are empowering communities to become self-sustaining, planting seeds of hope and opportunity that will bear fruit for generations.

During my recent visit, I was inspired by our newest initiative—Rete Fem, meaning “Stay Rooted”. Still in its initial test run, this new venture aims to create jobs, improve health, and build food security from the ground up. Rete Fem does this by transforming cassava, a nutrient-rich root vegetable, into nourishing milk for babies and flour for kasav, a common Haitian street food. Crafted with passion and ingenuity by a small team of dedicated staff, these flatbreads are now being sold in local markets—living proof of what’s possible when compassion and innovation come together. Imagine: Haiti feeding Haiti, hope transforming into reality through local hands and hearts.
Just last week, as we celebrated Easter with our families here in the U.S., our Haiti team sent joyful photos of children laughing during egg hunts and sharing festive meals. Because of your generosity, their bellies were full and their hearts overflowed with the love of God and the hope of a risen Savior. This is the hope you bring—the hope we carry together. What a beautiful legacy to share.
My heart is full knowing Hands & Feet Project remains Christ-centered and child-focused. I am grateful for every morsel of hope we deliver, and I am inspired by your willingness to carry the weight of transformation. It may be heavy at times, but together, we can change the story for one child at a time—and in doing so, transform a community.
We are called to cherish every life and honor our shared responsibility. Won’t you carry the weight with us?
