OUR MISSION

Our mission is to be the hands and feet of Christ fighting for the cause of vulnerable children, their families, and their communities.

Our Vision

Because of our efforts vulnerable children will grow fully into their God-given potential, families in crisis will stand together & endure trials undivided and fragile communities will live in God's peace and in wholeness with another.

Every day in Haiti, children experience the poverty-driven cycles of neglect, abandonment, trafficking and slavery because families lack access to social services, job stability, medical care and quality education.

Hands & Feet Project is a group of passionate child and family advocates working to break these cycles by fighting to keep families together through support services and job creation, providing family-style homes and caregivers for children in crisis, and restoring survivors of human trafficking.

Since 2004, our organization has provided homes for 123 children, prevented 130 children from experiencing separation from their families, and employed 370 individuals in the community.

We believe God called us to stand for each vulnerable child. You can join us in this work by committing to pray for the strengthening of families, becoming a monthly donor to our Preserving Families Fund or Providing Families Fund, and learning more about the story of how God is working in Haiti by signing up for our monthly newsletter.

Circle of Care

Our Christ-centered purpose is to provide family-style, residential care and sustainable solutions that fight against Haiti’s orphan crisis. The Hands & Feet Project Circle of Care is a comprehensive model that meets the physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs of every boy and girl under our care. This model has set a standard of excellence for our teams as we approach all aspects of our work and strive to live out our mission.

Physical Care

Physical needs are met through: clean water, nutrition, ongoing medical & dental care, dignified private spaces, safe homes, health education and training.

Educational Care

Educational needs are met through: private Christian schooling, English classes, year-round tutoring, vocational skills training, transitional living programs, daycare services, and individualized education plans.

Spiritual Care

Spiritual needs are met through: local church family, village worship, Bible training, faith-based curriculum, Vacation Bible School, Christ-centered care, discipleship, bibles, age appropriate small groups, and church camp.

Emotional Care

Emotional needs are met through: family style care, safe & nurturing environments, promotions of healthy attachments, ongoing assessments of care, regular caregiver training, and counseling and clinical services.

OUR CORE VALUES

We believe the best option for long-term care of any child is within a thriving, healthy family. We celebrate the re-unification of children with their biological families. We advocate for adoption if possible. Although we provide exceptional, family-style care in a safe, nurturing environment, we view our Children’s Villages as the best, last resort for children in crisis.

The children we care for are under the jurisdiction of Haiti’s Child Social Services. We do not “take in” children. Children are placed with us by Haitian government agencies. With a position of humility, we are providing resources, systems, and compassion to provide Haiti the very best residential care options for its most vulnerable children.

We provide comprehensive care by partnering with a team of experts and passionate support staff to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and educational needs of every boy and girl. Our team of care-givers and the standard of excellence we strive for is affectionately called our “Circle of Care."

At each Children’s Village we are committed to encourage and equip our kids to embrace Hands and Feet Project’s core values of Love, Honesty, Obedience, and Responsibility with ongoing teaching, intentional activities, and by celebrating exceptional behavior at our yearly Village Values event.

At 18 years of age, our children have the option of leaving our campuses as an adult or staying at one of our Independent Living Program (ILP) Homes in the community until they are 21. Those who choose to stay with Hands and Feet Project enter into a contractual agreement constituting a behavioral expectation and a work/study requirement. Children live, study and/or work under the guidance of a Residential Advisor. We are also committed to providing different apprenticeship options for these young adults.

Haiti Made was created by the Hands and Feet Project to help provide jobs for children transitioning out of orphan care. In early 2017 Haiti Made was purchased by HEI (Haiti Entrepreneurial Initiative), a for-profit company, with the vision to provide more jobs for struggling families and individuals. HAITI MADE has grown to partner with numerous organizations and retailers across the USA and grown to employ nearly 100 Haitians.

IKONDO,  a guest house nestled in the mountains above Grand Goave, Haiti, is a job-creation, family preservation initiative powered by the Hands and Feet Project. IKONDO is poised to change the way the Church approaches Missions in Haiti by combining traditional service projects, cultural exploration and time to retreat. This approach creates a more dignified and equitable exchange between our passionate guests and our Haitian hosts.
